According to travel journalist Russell Amerasekera, cities throughout the UK are now capable of competing directly with major cities throughout the world.
He said that London, Manchester and Birmingham all offer the same kind of cultural experience available in other major tourist destinations, boasting the shopping experience, nightlife and restaurants and other cultural attractions.
Meanwhile, Dave Hodgson marketing director from Marketing Birmingham, said: "You can go to different places..and it's only a couple of hours and you are in a completely different city, with a different experience just having the time of your life."
