Cornwall - and in particular Newquay - continues to maintain its strong appeal to families and young people, it has been claimed.
Teresa Timms, PR manager for VisitCornwall, said spectacular beaches, excellent water sports, friendly locals and some great hotels in the area, mean that Cornwall is continuing to prove a popular destination for both UK holidaymakers and for visitors to the UK.
She commented: "Newquay has traditionally been a family resort and while its attraction for young people has grown in recent years, it still maintains a strong appeal for families."
According to Tourism Newquay, the present euro to sterling conversion rates would appear to be making the UK - and in particular Newquay - a very popular destination for the overseas market.
It noted that when comparing the past two months with the same period last year, the town has seen a 35 per cent increase in visits from Germany, an 80 per cent rise in visits from France and an 11 per cent increase in visits from the Netherlands.
