When taking an extended holiday like a cruise, people may want to check their
home insurance policy before travelling.
Being away from home for a long period could invalidate people's cover and leave them with financial problems should their home be damaged while they are abroad.
Spokeswoman for the Passenger Shipping Association Penny Guy said that while the Caribbean and the Mediterranean "continue to be popular", holidaymakers are broadening their horizons.
"People are becoming more adventurous. Lifestyle is changing in the sense that people aren't 'old' any more so they want to go experience holidays that they weren't able to do in their earlier life," she said.
Cruises are often popular with mature tourists, who may find that an over 65s
holiday insurance policy better suits their travel needs.
