Britons looking to increase the value of their homes through DIY work and conversions might also have to consider upgrading their cover, according to a recent survey.
A report by Halifax showed that almost 60 per cent of home owners in Britain have done recent work and improvements in their home during the past year, and more or less the same proportion were looking to do so within the next 12 months.
As much as a third of those involved in conversions of over £2,500, while more than 10 per cent were at the upper range of more than £10,000 on improvements.
Similar research carried out by AA, revealed that the average price spent by homeowners to change and improve their attic and introduce a loft conversion was at £10,391.
When looking to improve their value of their homes, homeowners should then look at their
home insurance policy carefully to make sure that it covers the added valuation.
In particular, loft conversions can make a significant contribution to the value of a home and might not be covered by standard home insurance.
