A Jack Russell fell over the edge of cliffs in Aberporth, Tresaith over the weekend.

Fortunately, the animal was not hurt and was found on the rocks below by a couple of kayakers and was later returned to the campsite from where it had fallen.

However, in the meantime, the teenage owner of the dog had wandered out to find her pet and gotten lost. She was reported missing but later found through the joint search actions of Cardigan inshore lifeboat, Gwbert Coastguard Rescue Team and the RNLI Tresaith Lifeguards.

Highlighting the need to remain calm and to seek aid when looking for a lost pet, a spokesperson for the coastguards commented: "Never attempt a self rescue and do not put yourself in danger."

Meanwhile, Rediff Business recently advised animal owners to ensure they have pet insurance in place to cover the costs of any trips to the vets or any emergency medical treatment that they might require.

InsureandGo offers pet insurance to help cover the costs of any animal mishap.
