Consumers have been advised not to be tempted to omit or falsify information in insurance applications despite intensified need to tighten spending.
Price comparison site Gocompare notes that such behaviour results in a false economy that can invalidate policies and make obtaining insurance more difficult in the future.
Among the common indiscretions advised against by the insurer are non-disclosure of material facts, failure to notify insurers of changes in circumstance and providing false information.
Providing advice for customer s looking to save money on their insurance, Hayley Parsons, Gocompare's managing director, said: "One of the best ways to save money on your insurance is not to just accept your renewal quote; the best company for you 12 months ago may not be the best today."
She adds that currently only a quarter of people switch supplier to get a cheaper deal each year.
Meanwhile, the Motley Fool advises that policy premiums can be affected by the way in which occupations are described in insurance applications.
