Some 24 million drivers across the UK have dangerous habits when behind the wheel, new research has revealed.
According to a study conducted by Confused.com, one in five motorists admit to frequently eating or drinking while behind the wheel.
Indeed 47 per cent of drivers even admitted to driving with one hand on the wheel, the study found.
"It is so important to be vigilant when driving on Britain's roads, despite how good a driver you may think you are," said product director at the comparison site Simon Lamble.
He added that developing bad driving habits such as only having one hand on the wheel could reduce the level of control motorists have over a vehicle.
The survey also found that younger drivers and those living in London tend to be the most reckless - something Mr Lamble claims is "shocking", particularly as their premiums tend to be higher anyway.
Last month, the organisation noted that so-called celebrity-style number plates may be breaking the law as they may not meet approved standards set by the DVLA.
