The rising cost of repairing vehicles is likely to hit as many as 400,000 drivers as their warranties run out this month, Tesco Personal Finance has warned.
According to the group, the cost of getting cars fixed could do further damage to motorists' pockets which are already pinched under the weight of rising fuel and car taxation costs.
Indeed, the group predicted that as much as £45 million will be spent on common faults such as alternator failure or door locking problems in the coming year.
Allan Burns, head of insurance at Tesco Personal Finance, commented: "September is always a busy month for motorists as many drivers buy a new car. However this also means that the warranty on some cars expires which can leave drivers potentially facing huge repair costs."
Earlier this month, uSwitch also warned that as many as 1.5 million motors around the UK may be at risk of flooding as storms moved in.
