Motorists could avoid a
car insurance claim by following a few tips offered by one newspaper.
As the UK continues to be battered by inclement weather, the Telegraph offers drivers advice on how to tackle travelling through floods.
Motoring writer Andrew English says that a lot of cars can cope with "quite severe" levels of water.
However, he notes that there are still a number of dangers.
Mr English comments that such risks include shorted-out electrics on a vehicle, or water damage to an engine that could cause components such as pistons to break.
Advice noted in the article includes driving slowly through water in first gear and keeping revs at a high level to stop water being drawn into the exhaust.
A spokesperson for the Environment Agency recently warned of the danger of flooded roads, commenting that driving through a ford was a particular risk.
