Computer insurance could be the next wise buy for those looking to invest in a netbook this year.

According to ABI Research, the ongoing recession could actually work to the advantage of the netbook as they could appeal more to recession-hit consumers.

Tech-savvy Brits may want to check their home insurance covers for any damage to a machine or, if their computer is of high value, a dedicated computer insurance policy could be a good buy.

Editor at Techworld John Dunn said that netbooks solve many of the problems associated with traditional laptop computers.

He said that such machines are more portable, have a longer battery life and cost less to buy in the first place.

Mr Dunn also said that it is "only a matter of time" before a higher cost "all-day" netbook is introduced for the business market.

Computer insurance from InsureandGo can help homeowners cover the financial cost of damage to a computer.
