England footballer Owen Hargreaves is encouraging Britons to head to Germany for their holidays.
While he may not like playing the German national team at football, the Bayern Munich player, who is English but has lived in the Bavarian capital since he was 16, thinks that the country has a lot to offer.
The sportsman, who will move to Manchester United next season, has been signed up to front an advertising campaign to encourage people to visit Germany.
The tube campaign kicks off today and will run for two weeks.
Udo Grebe, director of the German National Tourist Office in London, said he was "delighted" that Hargreaves is involved in the campaign.
"As a young man with an international background living in Munich he
adds to the contemporary image of Germany and appeals to a broad audience," Mr Grebe said.
"Furthermore, Owen is an almost natural successor to Sir Geoff Hurst who was our partner for last year's poster campaign. While he made his name at the 1966 World Cup, Owen proved his worth for the English team 40 years later in Germany."
