The euro exchange rate is still not putting Britons off from visiting Europe this summer, one travel commentator has noted.

Anyone contemplating exchanging money before they travel - as airport exchange rates are often higher - could also make savings by taking out cheap travel insurance prior to their departure.

Theo Papathanasiou, Greek desk manager at World First, revealed that many people are still looking to make a trip over to the continent, despite the present poor value of sterling against the euro.

However, he argued: "The value of the euro, whilst expensive over its nine-year average, has weakened significantly versus the US dollar and the pound over the last few months."

According to a study by Youtravel.com, the fastest tourism growth destinations so far this year are both in Greece - Rhodes and Crete - with interest in visiting the country up by 27 per cent in comparison to this time last year.

InsureandGo offers travel insurance for those who may be looking to get a good deal on a holiday this summer.
