Holiday firm Eurocamp has predicted that a mood for "simpler and shorter" breaks will see more people holidaying in the UK.
By taking such breaks, Brits could find they save money which could then be used on an essential
travel insurance policy.
Now, Eurocamp is looking to encourage domestic holidaymakers to go camping in 2009 and is setting up its first UK-based camps for the first time in 15 years.
Brits who enjoy outdoor breaks could be interested in taking a camping trip at the new sites, which are situated, among other places, next to Loch Lomond, at the foot of Mount Snowdon and in the New Forest.
In total, nine new camps will be opened.
Carl Michel, chief executive of Eurocamp's owner Holidaybreak, said: "We think the UK consumer will be UK-based this year. People are being driven by value and £155 for a weekend in the school summer holidays is good value."
Travel insurance from
InsureandGo can cover Brits for a camping break or any other type of domestic getaway.
