A new tier of tickets is available for Eurostar passengers who want a little extra luxury at a cost below that of Business Premier tickets.

Standard Premier is a mid-class pricing tier that could help to leave more available to cover other costs of a getaway, such as travel insurance.

With Eurostar passenger numbers up by five per cent year-on-year to the first quarter of 2010, more people could be set to benefit from the added flexibility of the revised pricing structure.

Commercial director Nick Mercer says: "It became very clear that there was a strong appetite for a mid-range product pitched between our fully flexible Business Premier and Standard classes."

May 5th marks the first date on which the new tickets can be purchased, with travel dates from September 1st onwards.

Standard class still offers the lowest cost per ticket and promises to speed people towards the continent in comfort.

However, Standard Premier provides a little extra space for people who need to work while their journey is taking place.

Finally, Business Premier incorporates a chef-designed menu and drinks.
