With so much to think about when taking a holiday - from getting flights and booking hotels to checking travel insurance cover, many Brits might find that sticking to destinations they know and love is a wise move.

And despite the current exchange rate, Brits are still jetting off to traditional European destinations such as Alicante and Malaga.

Paul Simmons, UK regional general manager for easyJet, said that the firm was seeing such destinations remain popular.

The airline has recently announced several new additions to its schedule, including flights to Munich, Zurich and Vienna.

Mr Simmons commented that these destinations could appeal to business travellers, as well as holidaymakers travelling for pleasure.

As Brits tighten their belts to try and cut back on spending, more people are looking at ways to save enough money to still take a holiday this year.

A survey from trivago suggests that 35 per cent of Brits are intent on planning ahead and comparing prices to reduce money spent on a break in 2009.

Holiday insurance from InsureandGo can give cover to those travelling for business or pleasure.
