While organising cheap travel insurance could be a top priority for businesses, those heading off on company travel are failing to take an interest in redeeming their expenses once they return, it has been claimed.

Gill Upton, editor of The Business Travel Magazine, said that many business people are simply not interested in these administrative tasks and could be losing out on important financial support as a result.

She noted: "When they come back, especially now in the middle of a recession, the pressure is on to clinch deals. The last thing they can think of is doing their expenses."

According to figures compiled by the Guild of Travel Management Companies, a six per cent overall reduction in business transaction activity was witnessed during the first quarter of 2009 in comparison to the same period last year.

Furthermore, a Business Travel Coalition report from October last year showed 25.5 per cent of businesses implemented emergency travel cutbacks as a result of the economic downturn.

InsureandGo offers cheap travel insurance to suit the budget of all types of traveller.
