Heading to Paris should not simply be about visiting the Eiffel Tower for UK holidaymakers, it has been claimed.
Veronique Potelet Anty, of the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau, said the city provides a range of cultural activities, with more than 50 museums showcasing a range of arts and attractions, as well as many theatres and restaurants to stimulate the senses of travellers.
She commented: "There is really a wide offering of restaurants from really simple restaurants and very nice cuisine which is really affordable and then we do have more than 60 Michelin-starred restaurants."
According to figures published by the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau, 4.7 per cent fewer people visited the Eiffel Tower last year than during 2008.
In addition, the number of visits by Brits to the city fell by 16 per cent, although overall hotel occupancy rose in Paris by 0.9 per cent during December.
