Anyone interested in extreme sports might want to take out ski insurance and head off to New Zealand where the world's top extreme skiers and snowboarders are preparing to take on the country's most remote mountain range.

Wanaka - a ski resort in the country's southern lakes district - is hosting this year's World Heli Challenge event, which will see some of the best extreme skiing enthusiasts take on the elements by helicoptering into some of the most inaccessible and extreme locations in the world.

American sports commentator and former world extreme ski champion Chris Davenport commented: "No other ski or snowboard event combines freestyle, extreme and psycho downhill skills like the Heli Challenge."

The challenge is set to be held from August 29th to September 12th.

Dan Johnson, director of TheMoveChannel.com, recently noted that anyone looking for a getaway which offers plenty of home comforts but has unparalleled beauty and charm might want to visit New Zealand.

He described the country as an "almost magical destination".

InsureandGo offers ski insurance for anyone thinking of taking a skiing break this year.
