Those as concerned about the environment as they are about making sure they have the right holiday insurance for a break could consider a holiday by ferry.

The Daily Mail notes that any eco-warriors in the UK may have already considered this - also commenting that this mode of travel is wallet-friendly.

As part of a new initiative to get people sailing instead of flying, the Passenger Shipping Association has announced it will hold a Ferry Fortnight in May.

Set to run from May 9th-22nd this year, the event will see holidaymakers offered special deals on ferry breaks.

New routes will also be announced.

Director of the PSA William Gibbons said that as an island, ferry travel is an integral part of the UK's transport network.

"We are hoping that this promotion will be far reaching, inspiring and encouraging a new generation of travellers to discover the treasures that are on our doorstep," he said.

Travel insurance from InsureandGo can cover any type of holiday, whether taken by air, land or sea.
