A new site has launched which allows users to research, share and bookmark their favourite travel information.

Based on principles similar to established social bookmarking sites such as del.icio.us and digg, TravelBookmarking.com allows tourists to obtain professional content that would not look out of place in Lonely Planet, according to news provider Scoop.

Users of the site can collect information about the destination that they feel is most relevant to them as well as the theme of their trip will take, such as relaxation, sightseeing or activity-based.

"Our members can compile all the information they need in one place and create custom travel guides that feature reviews, maps and content designed specifically for their dream trips," says Ed Lester, founder of the site.

Travelbookmarking.com's sister site, So Much World, allows users to read and contribute travel reviews.

Wherever their dream trip may take them, consumers may find that they are able to obtain a competitive deal on comprehensive travel insurance by getting in touch with InsureandGo.
