The crash of a small tourist plane in northern Malawi has left six dead, including 5 Britons, local authorities said on Sunday.
As part of a safari tour in Malawi, the airplane was conducting a sightseeing flight on Saturday night above the ravines in the north of the country.
It is believed that the bad weather present of that night could have contributed to the cause of the accident, although this is currently under investigation by authorities.
The plane crashed at some point between the capital of Lilongwe, and Rumphi, a popular sightseeing place because of its abundant wildlife.
The crash killed the plane's Canadian pilot, as well as the five British tourists.
Expected at camp within about 45 minutes of departure, the plane and its passengers never returned.
'The wreckage of the plane was found by villagers in a ravine, and there were no survivors,' said police spokesman Willie Mwaluka to Reuters.
Retrieval of the plane and investigation into the crash is currently being obstructed by the difficult access to the area where it is located.
