Around 1.5 million cars across the country are currently at risk of suffering damage as a result of flooding, it has been claimed.
Comparison site uSwitch argues that car owners in areas affected by flooding may see their premiums increase as a result of the inclement weather.
Ashton Berkhauer, an insurance expert at the organisation, said that more than £2 billion was paid out by insurance firms after last summer's flooding.
"Flooding is an issue for many motorists, yet too many people are failing to learn lessons from 2007 and secure adequate cover," said Mr Berkhauer.
He added that if drivers fail to secure the correct
car insurance policy, they may suffer financial losses and could still be feeling the impact, even after the flood waters have receded.
Last month, uSwitch argued that disposable income for average families in Britain has fallen for the first time since 1997 and are now around £2,500 worse off than in 2007.
