The advice comes with the announcement that many vehicle owners would not be covered for flood damage with some
car insurance policies.
The company reports that around 11 per cent of all insurance claims arising from floods in 2007 were due to vehicle damage.
However, it states that some third-party
car insurance policies will not provide cover for flooding.
Third-party policies are fine for those living in low-risk areas, but those likely to be affected should ensure preventative measures are taken to protect their car, the company states.
Parking on high ground is one way to protect against potential damage, it advises.
According to the Environment Agency, there are around five million people living in flood risk areas in England in Wales.
