The city of Florence has captured the number one place at the head of Travel+Leisure Magazine's list of Top 10 World's Best Cities.
The winners will be featured on the August issue of the US magazine, which will be out one newsstands on July 24th.
Rankings were decided on the basis of a poll conducted on the magazine's readership.
Known for its stunning renaissance architecture and rich cultural tradition, as well as some of the best restaurants in Tuscany, Florence beat second ranked Buenos Aires for the top spot.
The city of tango itself managed to edge Thailand's main attraction, Bangkok, to come in second.
Sydney continued to drop after having had a monopoly on the list's top spot for a decade, falling to fifth, still ahead of New York (sixth), Istanbul (eighth) and Cape Town (tenth).
Travel+Leisure Magazine not only ranked the world's best cities: India's luxury Oberoi Udaivilas hotel in Udaipur was chosen best hotel, ahead of Singita Sabi Sand hotel in the Kruger National Park in South Africa.
Bali ranked as the top holiday island to travel to, trailed by Maui, Kauai and the Galapagos Islands.
And Singapore Airlines repeated as the world's best international airline, followed by MAXjet, which is an all-business class airline, Emirates, Cathay Pacific and Thai Airways.
