State parks in Florida have proved to be popular with visitors and have generated millions of dollars for the local economy, new figures have indicated.
Topping the list of such revenue-generating attractions this year is St Andrew's State Park in Panama City - which contributed over $47 million (£22.9 million) to the region's economy - according to data from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
DEP deputy secretary Bob Ballard commented that recreational activities in Florida's state parks represent a significant portion of the region's burgeoning ecotourism industry.
"Our state parks offer environmental recreation and education for visitors of all ages and this record-breaking success was a great boost to the state's economy," he added.
Earlier this month, it was asserted in the First Coast News that a number of tourist attractions in the state have reported increases in visitors this summer.
