Homeowners looking to add value to their property may find that making some garden improvements is a wise way to do so.
According to garden designer Jill Fenwick, an "attractive" outdoor space could help to increase the value of a property when it goes on the market.
Before undertaking any home improvements, people should make sure their
home insurance policy protects against the financial cost of any damage which might occur during work.
Ms Fenwick said that when presented with two houses which were the same and equally priced, people would choose the one with the attractive garden.
"[If] One's got a boring lawn and nothing else and the other one has got a beautiful garden then which one are [you] going to buy?" she asks.
More Brits are choosing to "improve not move" in the current climate, it has been widely reported.
Figures from last year's Halifax Home Improvement Survey found that 28 per cent of Brits are planning to make home improvements over the next year to add value to their property.
