With its friendly atmosphere, rich heritage and stunning architecture, Glasgow is a great destination for tourists visiting Scotland, it has been claimed.
The Scottish Tourist Guides Association has explained that until people have visited, they are unlikely to realise what a "hidden gem" it is.
Commenting recently, Stewart Daniels, general manager of the group, suggested that it may also be popular because of its reputation as a quintessentially Scottish city.
"It has its own unique atmosphere and ambience. Other cities in Scotland have equally great heritage but Glasgow is regarded as somewhat unique," he said.
Meanwhile, he added that sustained regeneration over the last two decades and a wholesale remarketing has allowed the city to appeal to a wider range of people.
He said that investment and development had helped to remove the negative perceptions of certain areas of Glasgow.
Mr Daniels' comments followed a recent survey by Lonely Planet which voted Glasgow the most Scottish city in the country.
