Tourists staying at Holiday Inn hotels may soon see an improvement in the quality of their surroundings.

Owner of the brand, Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG), is about to give the chain a $1 billion (£486 million) revamp.

A new logo will accompany the upgrades, with the existing green script to be replaced by a white, stylised H on a green square.

North American head of operations Steve Porter stated that some 1,000 new properties will also be added to the chain.

"The brand is the largest and one of the most successful in the hotel industry and its relaunch will ensure that this position is maintained," he added.

IHG states that it has more accommodation than any other hotel firm in the world, with some 563,676 rooms in more than 3,800 across the globe.

Wherever consumers stay while travelling, be it a budget motel or luxury complex, they may find that they benefit from investing in comprehensive travel insurance from InsureandGo.
