A number of "very likely scenarios" for the next 12 months have been identified by online community site TravelMole.

The resource states that 2008 is likely to be a good year for destinations such as Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Oman, with the latter likely to benefit from airline expansion.

Eco-tourism and volunteer tourism programmes are also likely to become more prominent sectors of the Western tourism market - also, sustainable tourism is likely to be taken more seriously as consumers become more aware of the effects of climate change.

Closer cooperation between governments and the travel industry is also likely to take place on topics such as visas, sustainable economic development and environmental management.

Forbes Traveler recently identified the best airport hotels, which globe-trotting guests may well stay in on their travels over the next year.

Wherever consumers plan to holiday in the next 12 months, they may well find that they can get a great deal on travel insurance by contacting InsureandGo to get a quote on a policy.
