Growth in air passenger demand is a positive sign for the aviation industry, it has been argued - a development which could see increased uptake in
travel insurance as more Brits head overseas.
John Weber, senior vice-president at OAG Aviation, said higher demand for seats is a positive sign for the industry as it represents a turning point in the fortunes of the sector.
He commented: "The objective is to keep passenger growth ahead of seat growth for the coming winter. Stronger demand for seats and high load factors will have a positive impact on yields and revenues."
According to the International Air Transport Association, passenger demand was up 0.5 per cent in October compared to the same month in 2008.
Furthermore, demand for international cargo rose to 0.5 per cent below the previous year's levels. This is significantly better than the 5.4 per cent decline recorded in September.
