Hungary provides travellers looking for a weekend break with value for money and luxury, the national tourist office has claimed.
Karin Jones, consultant for the Hungarian National Tourist Office, explained that consumers can access Michelin-starred restaurants and five-star hotels in the central European country for a fraction of the price they would pay in the UK.
The airline Wizz Air announced last week that it expects to see passenger growth of 20 per cent to Budapest in 2010. To meet this additional demand the low-cost carrier will be launching increased network capacity.
Ms Jones highlighted Budapest's historic bridges, Great Synagogue and ornate thermal baths as being of particular interest to UK travellers.
She said: "Budapest's luxuries, including four and five-star hotels, fine dining including their first Michelin-starred restaurant, are easily accessible to the average traveller with room rates starting from well under £100 per night."
