British Airways has unveiled its new terminal at Heathrow airport, which has taken seven years to build.

The new building boasts modern technology and design and will serve BA customers from March 27th, reports the Associated Press.

Terminal 5 will include 112 stores, as well as a cinema and spacious first class lounge with spa facilities.

It comprises three buildings, one primarily for domestic and short-haul trips, with the other two accommodating for longer flights. The buildings will be linked by an underground shuttle service.

Robert Boyle, BA's commercial director, says the new terminal aims to ensure passengers can travel without delay.

New technology has been used to speed up the flight process, including x ray machines that do not require travellers to take off belts or shoes.

The unveiling follows recent reports from Heathrow that it has experienced a rise in the number of long-haul passengers in the last year.
