An impending heatwave could spell trouble for individuals who do not have comprehensive life insurance in place, as Britain looks likely to experience high temperatures over the coming weeks.

Professor Steve Field, chairman of the Royal College of General Practitioners, said that many British homes are not built for ventilation and as such many people could die due to the excessive heat.

He commented: "The Mediterranean people have it right, having a siesta during the hottest parts of the days. So have a lie down, rest and put your feet up."

Professor Field also advised that it is important to keep cool by having cold drinks and setting up fans or air conditioning.

The Met Office has forecast high temperatures across the majority of the country this week and as such has issued a level 2 heatwave warning.

Parts of the country will see temperatures reach 30 degrees Celcius, while overnight temperatures could remain as high as 18 degrees Celcius in some places.
