The number of travellers getting
holiday insurance and booking a break away could rise this month, it has been suggested.
According to research from the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA), approximately 200,000 people a day are booking a summer break early at the moment, reports the Telegraph.
The figures suggest that as many as six million trips could be booked during January.
ABTA said that January was a big month for the travel industry and this year it looked like it was going to be a busy time.
"Our research has shown that the last thing people give up is their holiday and there are some extraordinary deals out there at the moment," it commented.
The Telegraph reports that tour operators have been "wooing customers" with deals including two-for-one offers and free deals for children.
Internet travel site Webjet reported a 19 per cent rise in transactions in December.
InsureandGo offer low cost holiday insurance which can give cover to both adults and children planning on taking a summer holiday in 2009.
