Britain's airports are in chaos today (December 21th) as heavy fog across the country has caused hundred of flights to be cancelled and thousands of passengers stranded.
British Airways (BA) has cancelled all domestic services to and from London Heathrow while a large number of European services are also not flying, including considerable numbers to Paris and Brussels.
Meanwhile flights to and from Gatwick are subject to delays of up to 90 minutes and nine BA services have been grounded.
Similarly, a small number of flights have been cancelled and delays are expected at Southampton, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen airports.
"BA is doing all it can to assist customers and would urge customers due to travel on one of the cancelled flights to or from London Heathrow on Thursday December 21st not to travel to the airport," the airline said in a statement.
"Customers due to travel are advised to check the status of their flight before they leave for the airport."
Europe's third largest airline is offering refunds or replacement tickets to those suffering from cancellations.
Stansted currently remains unaffected by the weather conditions, which look set to continue until Christmas Day.
