Travellers planning to take to the slopes this year may find that winter sports insurance is a good buy if they fall into the "one-week-a-year" skier category.

Writing for the Guardian, William Hide says that he falls under the heading of a "one-week-a-year" skier - and travellers who think their slope skills may be a little rusty could find holiday insurance essential in case an accident occurs.

Mr Hide says that before holidaying in Kitzbuhel, Austria he had fallen into a "ski-rut" but that the "notoriously steep slopes" in the resort pulled him out.

While holidaying in the area, Mr Hide writes that he took a night time ski tour while on his trip.

Romantic holidaymakers looking for a Valentines' getaway could be interested to know that the resort also offers horse-drawn sleigh rides through the snow.

The Pyrenees are currently experiencing one of their best winters in years, with "huge quantities" of snow, making skiing conditions ideal.

InsureandGo can offer winter sports insurance with a great level of cover to thrill-seeking Brits hitting the pistes this year.
