People buying last-minute flights should check their booking to make sure they aren't paying over the odds for optional extras, according to a consumer advisory group.
According to a spokesperson from Holiday Which?, air operators sometimes automatically "tick boxes" for optional services like
travel insurance.
Claire Lilley, head of research, advised buyers not to be won over by "smooth marketing spiel" which aims to talk customers in to buying additional services.
It follows an earlier publication from Which? that claims some airlines are charging up £28 extra on the stated price of the ticket.
It also found one airline charged £20 for baggage check-in.
"Be clear about what you want at the start of your booking. Make up your mind before you start your booking if you want
travel insurance, if you want speedy boarding," she advised.
InsureandGo aims to provide a competitive quote for
travel insurance, whatever the destination.
