Many travellers may be concerned about having enough money to go on holiday, but apart from essential travel insurance cover, certain aspects of a break can be cut back on to save cash.

Booking in advance could be a way of saving money on a trip and could also give people the chance to save up enough money to shop until they drop on their holiday.

Recent research from online bank Smile.co.uk shows that saving for a trip away is top of the priority list for Brits.

In total, 57 per cent of respondents to a poll said they were currently saving up to go on holiday.

Head of savings at Smile.co.uk John Barker said that the poll showed Brits were following the behaviour of previous generations and were now prepared to save up for something they want.

Travel insurance from InsureandGo is low-cost and comprehensive, meaning it won't break the bank for holidaymakers saving up for a well-earned break.
