More and more holidaymakers will be choosing trips to remote destinations in the pursuit of tranquillity and authenticity this year, it has been reported.
The Telegraph reveals its predictions for travelling in 2008 and suggests that holidays off the beaten track will be popular.
Writing for the newspaper, Mark Jones indicates that both Africa and Latin America are likely to be holiday hotspots this year.
He highlights that travellers will be looking to take more ethical holidays, with holiday makers keeping it "real and low-scale" as more people are aware of environmental concerns surrounding tourism.
South America is also pinpointed as a destination with lots of potential, with locations such as the Atacama Desert gearing up for tourists with the opening of a new hotel and spa this year.
With more Brits likely to be heading off to far-flung destinations it is crucial that holidaymakers have adequate
travel insurance before setting off.
Meanwhile, the Telegraph also reports that British holidaymakers have been unfazed by the recent violence in Kenya, with most opting to go ahead with holiday plans to the African country.
