Britons spend longer deciding on where to go on holiday than they do viewing a prospective property, according to a new study.
Research from Abbey found that Britons spend just 96 minutes viewing a house before they put in an offer.
This is compared to around 139 minutes that is spent picking where to go on holiday.
Abbey warned prospective homebuyers to take more time when viewing a property as they could encounter problems later on which could have been avoided if more time and care were taken before buying.
"It really is crucial that homebuyers do as much research as possible before making an offer on a new property," said Nici Audhlam-Gardiner, head of mortgages at Abbey.
"Moving is stressful enough, without having to worry about nasty surprises when you arrive at your new home."
Problems experienced after moving into a new property included decorative problems, poor water pressure, damage to house exterior and rising damp.
