A financial expert has warned homeowners to be careful not to invalidate their home insurance towards the end of the summer season.

According to financial services website Confused, many UK homeowners inadvertedly invalidate their home insurance during hot weather by leaving out their contents such as tools or equipments.

This leaves their possesions easy target for thefts and outside usual insurance cover.

Homeowners also risk leaving doors and windows open in hot weather, making for an inviting opportunity for thieves.

Debra Williams, managing director of Confused, advised homeowners to keep windows and doors locked and possesions in a safe place.

Ms Williams also urged homeowners to tell their home insurance company when builders are working on their home to avoid possible refusals during accidental damage claims.

"This way your insurance cover will remain intact and any accidental damage that builders cause through their work will also be covered," she added.

Make sure to be properly covered with the right home insurance, call or check online for great value deals from InsureandGo.
