Brits are being encouraged to spend money on making home improvements by the low savings rates that banks are currently offering, it has been claimed.

Before making any changes to a home, a home insurance policy may need to be altered to cover for any damages which may occur while work is taking place.

Sales designer at Avanti Kitchens and Bathrooms Stephanie Lee said that more Brits are looking to renovate their property at the moment.

She said that this is because they are not seeing much interest added to their savings accounts so they make the decision that they "might as well" spend their cash rather than save.

As well as this, Ms Lee noted that people are also not lowering the quality of the products they use in their home improvements.

She said that interest in more expensive home improvement materials, such as granite, has "gone through the roof".

Home insurance from InsureandGo can cover Brits about to begin renovating their property, giving them the reassurance they need before starting work.
