Tourists can enjoy the finest sounds of the Orient this Easter by stopping off at the Hong Kong arts festival, which begins today (February 27th) and continues until March 25th.
Featuring many overseas and local artists, the festival offers to display an eclectic array of music theatre, dance and popular entertainment.
Highlights include the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra; Zhu Lin and Colleen Lee in their renowned cello and piano duo; and the Yohangza Theatre Company performing an eastern version of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Now one of the biggest cultural celebrations in China, the festival began life in 1973 when a group of individuals decided that a metropolis as vibrant and fast growing as Hong Kong should have its own arts festival to display its talents to the world.
Returned to China after a century of British rule in 1997, Hong Kong is often frequented by travellers stopping over before continuing their travels in Thailand, Vietnam or Laos in south-east Asia.
