Britain's tour operators have identified the Middle East as the must-visit destination for next year, according to the Guardian.
A number of firms have seen increases in bookings to the region, such as Cox and Kings, which has seen a 200 per cent rise compared to last year.
"We see it kind of spreading out - people started in Dubai, then they looked over and got interested in Oman, then Jordan, then Syria and so on," founding director of Original Travel Tom Barber tells the publication.
Other factors which may have contributed to interest in the region may include the recent unveiling of the body Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings as well as the exhibition of artefacts from the tomb which recently opened in London.
Those planning to visit the exhibition, perhaps as inspiration for a visit to Egypt, will have plenty of time to do so as it runs until August 2008.
