This Ideal Home Show will take place at Earls Court, from March 20th to April 5th 2010 and its home improvements expert, George Clarke, has given his tips on how to update a home this Easter break.

By painting walls white, creating a feature wall and sanding floorboards to their original state, a home can get a fresh new look and the upcoming holidays could be the ideal time to do it.

Mr Clarke said that lighting can be used intelligently to adjust the mood and tone of rooms and restoring floor boards to their natural state fits in well with the current "raw" trend.

"My ultimate, simple killer tip for revamping a home quickly, [is to] paint a room white to instantly give it a fresh new look," he commented.

Interior designers are returning to natural materials and handcrafted textures because a perceived lack of perfection is "a reassuring sign of solidity and longevity".
