A coastal resort in the Indian state of Kerala has won an eco-tourism award, it has emerged.
The Marari Beach Resort in Alappuzha is the recipient of the Skal International Eco-Tourism accolade for the best eco-friendly rural tourism project for 2007.
General manager of the facility Erine Louis accepted the award at the Skal World Congress in turkey recently, the Hindu reports.
In recent months, Kerala was identified as the third most popular tourist destination in Asia by Smart Asia travel magazine.
Skal was founded in 1934 and promotes global tourism and goodwill, stating that it is the only international group that unites all branches of the travel and tourism industry.
