Insurance companies can "only continue to urge" homeowners to make sure they have the right
home insurance as the weather in the UK gets worse, according to a report.
According to Only Finance an approximate 180,000 home insurance complaints were received after the floods of June and July.
Only Finance reports that nearly 40 per cent of UK homeowners do not have adequate home insurance and claims that £214 billion worth of property, land and assets are currently in areas deemed to be at risk of flooding throughout England and Wales.
In related news, the Independent has reported that the market town of Morpeth in Northumberland has been hit by a month's worth of rain in one day, causing a river to burst its banks and flood the town with two feet of water.
According to the report, Morpeth also flooded in 1963 when serious damage was caused to around 500 homes in the area.
