Italy boasts world's finest wine festival

Vinitaly claims to be the largest wine show in the world and is now firmly established on the international scene as one of Italian wine's flagship international events.

Its convention centre covers 80,000 sq m of floor space and will house 4,200 exhibitors over the course of the five day long event.

Alongside the hoards of tourists looking for a crafty sip, there will be producers, distributors, caterers, technicians and journalists there to find out which will be best wines of 2007.

The highlight of the event is the International Wine Competition which compares 3,500 wines from 31 different countries and ensures that the winner will have long-standing prestige and should boost sales consierably.

New for this year is the haute cuisine stand where visitors will learn how to use wine and olive oil to create the most sumptuous gastranomic delicacies.

But for the occasional wine sipper, there will be a multitude of tasting sesssions on offer where you can learn how to appreciate good wine and also get a little tipsy in the process.

Vinitaly takes place in Verona from March 29th to April 2nd.
