Jakarta is currently holding a tourism convention to pick up tips on promotional practices from other cities.

Representatives from a range of cities including Berlin, Los Angeles, Tokyo, New South Wales, Beijing and Rotterdam are attending the convention.

Prior to the beginning of the conference, the Jakarta Post reports that governor Fauzi Bowo commented: "We look forward to this summit, in which some of the world's most important cities will share their ideas and experiences."

The Indonesian capital city aims to attract 1.5 million foreign visitors this year, according to the head of Jakarta's tourism agency Yusuf Effendi Pohan.

Attractions in the city include the Arjuna Wijaya Statue, the Immanuel Church and the Bogor Zoological Museum.
