The culture and tourism ministry of Jakarta plans to promote a total of 100 events throughout the next 12 months.
Cultural festivals, sporting occasions and musical performances are scheduled to be among the activities, the ministry explains.
Director for marketing at the ministry Bachri B Thamrin explained that the body plans to work with local authorities to ensure the success of the activities.
"In addition, the ministry will also help publicise the events both inside and outside the country," he tells the Jakarta Post.
Promotion will take place online, via television and through Indonesia's overseas tourism offices.
In recent weeks, the publication reported that Jakarta held a tourism convention in order to gain tips on promotional practices from other cities, including Rotterdam, New South Wales, Berlin and Los Angeles.
